Safe & Secure is a practical guide that helps families plan for a meaningful and secure future for a loved one with a disability. It provides seven key steps, combining actionable strategies with real-life stories from families across Ontario.

The book emphasizes:

  • Thinking creatively about challenges
  • Planning for independence and meaningful connections
  • Building financial and legal security
  • Advocating effectively and empathetically

Each step includes exercises, discussion prompts, and practical tips families can apply at home.

What to Expect During the Book Club

  • Guided Discussions: Each session focuses on one of the book’s seven steps
  • Practical Takeaways: Explore strategies and tools to apply in everyday life
  • Community Sharing: Connect with other families, share experiences, and ask questions
  • Flexible Participation: Join any session, whether you’ve read the book or are learning along the way
