At the Down Syndrome Association of Sudbury (DSAS), we recognize the vital role that caregivers play in the lives of individuals with Down syndrome. That’s why we’re proud to offer a series of exclusive caregiver-focused events throughout 2024-2025. These activities are designed to provide you, the caregiver, with some well-deserved respite, opportunities to connect with others, and most importantly, time to recharge.
Thanks to the generous support from the Family Support Network, DSAS will be hosting five exciting events for caregivers this year. These events are a special investment in you—offering a chance to relax, have fun, and bond with fellow caregivers, all without the “kids” in tow. While DSAS organizes family-friendly socials throughout the year, these caregiver-only gatherings are intended to prioritize your well-being and create space for meaningful connections.
Caregiver Trivia Night Recap – July 10, 2024
Our first caregiver event of the year, Caregiver Trivia Night, was a smashing success! Hosted by Two Thumbs Trivia at Daventry Kitchen and Bar, the night was filled with laughter, delicious food, and a little friendly competition. Caregivers came together to enjoy an evening off, and it was truly heartwarming to see our community relax and have fun.
A huge thank you to our organizing committee for making the event seamless, and a special shout-out to the Family Support Network for their generous grant, which made the night possible. Events like Trivia Night are more than just social outings—they’re an essential way to foster support and community among caregivers. It was a perfect reminder of the importance of self-care, and we’re already looking forward to the next event!
Caregiver Billiards Tournament Recap – September 28, 2024
Our second caregiver event of the year took place at Rhythm and Cues, where caregivers enjoyed a lively billiards tournament! The evening was filled with great food, drinks, laughter, and a little friendly competition as participants paired up to play pool. Prizes were awarded to the top two teams, with the winners walking away with gift cards. Whether playing or cheering from the sidelines, everyone had a great time connecting and unwinding.
We’re grateful once again to the Family Support Network for their financial contribution, which helped make this night happen. It was fantastic to see even more caregivers join us for this event, and we can’t wait to continue hosting more caregiver-focused activities throughout the year!
Stay tuned for more caregiver-exclusive events coming soon! These are opportunities to relax, recharge, and celebrate the important work you do every day.
